POLITICAL: MLA Kevin Chief
Kevin Chief, MLA for Point Douglas, which includes the Exchange District east of Main Street is anxious to speak to our group. Kevin is the Minister responsible for relations with the City of Winnipeg, and Minister of Children and Youth Opportunities. Kevin Chief was first elected in 2011 with 72.8% of the vote. As the first provincial politician to speak to R:ED, Kevin will talk about his views on many of the issues facing downtown and the Exchange District. He is anxious to get our input on many topics, so there will be plenty of time allocated to a Q&A.
One of the reasons many of us love the Exchange District is that we can often walk - reducing the need for a car. But can we get rid of our car, saving us gas, parking, insurance, maintenance and depreciation? Or at least downsize from two to one car?
But what if we need a vehicle for shopping, visiting friends across town or heading out to do a long list of errands.
Why own a car 24/7 when you can pay only for when you use it? We can now share cars - book it online for the hours you need it, for only $4.50 an hour, including gas!
Beth McKechnie and Aaron Russin from Peg City Co-op will be talking to us about the co-op and how it works. We will be able to join the co-op right at the event.
ACROSS THE BOARD: New Game Cafe
Another first for the Exchange, the Across the Board Game Café on Albert St. offers an inviting and friendly atmosphere to enjoy a drink and great food as well as play and purchase many different exciting tabletop games. They are opening for us at no charge, so I hope everyone takes advantage of their snack and dessert menu as well as their coffee and liquor/beer/wine bar before, during and after the meeting.
