Exchange District: 200 years of History

This evening will be hosted at the newest restaurant in the Exchange: The Mitchell Block Restaurant & Lounge (formerly Tre Visi).  If you haven't been there yet, the restaurant has new decor and a new menu.  We will be upstairs in the "sexiest lounge in the city."

We live in and amongst historic buildings, but who built them and why?

Gregory Thomas and Sheila Grover, who are working on a publication on the history of the Exchange District, will be giving us a presentation entitled “The Exchange District: 200 years in 20 minutes.”

Both of our guests are trained historians.  Sheila was the Architectural Historian for the City of Winnipeg.  Gregory has been with Parks Canada for 35 years and is currently Manitoba Governor for Heritage Canada The National Trust.  In 2014 they published "A Resort History of Victoria Beach."

Included with the evening will be a nine ounce glass of wine, or a wine flight (your choice), canapés and hors d’oeuvres.

Date: Tuesday January 20
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: The Mitchell Block - Lounge, 2nd floor, 173 McDermot Ave.
Price:  $20 cash
